The second round of this year’s Maternal Newborn and Child Health (MNCH) week was recently concluded in different wards and schools within the local government.
The MNCH week provided a unique opportunity for residents of the local government to improve the health seeking behaviours of the whole family especially, mothers and care-givers of children under 5 years of age to appropriate services available at the primary health care centers in the local government.
At the flag off of the event, the Chairperson of the local government, Princess Zainab Adewale, while delivering her keynote address stated that personal hygiene is the first course for a healthy well-being. “We all should keep our environment clean, and eat well cooked and nutritious meal,” she noted.
During the week long exercise, the following activities were carried out in different wards and schools in the local government amongst, which were ante-natal, post natal care, de-worming exercise, HIV counseling and counseling for pregnant women and nursing mothers among others.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of Amuwo Odofin Local Government, Comrade Ayodele Adewale, while delivering his remarks, enjoined all to keep their environment clean, noting that it is a collective responsibility.
