The Chairman of Amuwo Odofin Local Government, Comrade Ayodele Adewale, has urged the Federal Government to give priority to the development of the health sector in the country.
He made this public while delivering his speech at the 25th anniversary celebrations of Emel Hospital at 21 Road, Festac Town.
Comrade Ayodele Adewale noted that the health sector needs a complete revamping and overhaul. “It is rather shameful that medical doctors in this country are going on strike for improved condition of service. This is totally uncalled for and disgraceful,’’ he noted.
“The government at the center should stop paying lip service to the health sector. They should come out with a blue print to improve the well being of the citizenry health wise”, he disclosed.
The local government boss also appealed to the management of Emel Hospital to form a synergy with the local government on providing qualitative health care to the populace in the local government.
The founder and CEO of Emel Hospital, Dr. Mogbolaji Lawal, stated that the hospital is ready to partner with the local government in providing qualitative health care to the people of Amuwo Odofin Local Government. “Comrade Adewale has brought transformation to the health sector in the local government, he needs to be encouraged and supported,” Dr. Lawal stated.
He also said that the occasion would be used to conduct free medical clinic, health talk and visit to the orphanage where education materials would be donated, amongst others.
