In a renewed bid to create health awareness among the people of the local government, the Amuwo Odofin Local Government in conjunction with Rotary Club of Festac Central and The Help Initiative for Women and Child recently held a one-day rotary awareness and health concern for all.
The essence of the programme was to sensitize the general public on health related issues like cervical, breast and prostate cancer.
The event which was held at the council secretariat attracted dignitaries from the Rotary family, management and staff of the local government, among others.
Rotarian Anthonia Agugoesi, President of Rotary Club of Festac Town Central, while delivering her remarks reiterated the need for regular screening of the body, noting that “a healthy person is a wealthy person”.
She also heaped praises on the Chairman of the local government, Comrade Ayodele Adewale, for bringing monumental development to the local government.
Comrade Adewale, in his address, advised the participants that there should be regular blood pressure check, time moderation and planning towards a healthy life, as well as paying attention to the environment.
The Amuwo Odofin council boss also appealed to the Rotary Club to support the local government on health and education development.
Meanwhile, over 100 people benefited from the free health screening and tests on blood pressure, blood sugar, cervical, breast and prostate cancers.
