The Surulere Local Council has completed the rehabilitation of three roads in the Masha-Ogunlana axis of the Lagos metropolis. The roads, which were commissioned for public use on Tuesday, are Oyekan street, Adeoti Lane and Ogunlana Lane. Last week, the council administration also commissioned the Shitta Roundabout road and the surrounding drainage, which hitherto was prone to flooding.
“My administration’s resolve is to give utmost attention to the welfare of constituents by providing social, economic and physical infrastructure”, said Ajide-Yussuf on the sideline of the event.
A resident, Adebisi Olayimika, lauded the council chairman, Tajudeen Ajide for fixing the road.
“I have lived on this street for 50 years; I’m excited to see the road has been rehabilitated. It was so bad before now; residents with owned vehicles suffered immense discomfort using the road”, said the 85-year-old grandmother.
Elizabeth Achibong, another resident, echoed Olayimika’s statement.
Also, Akeem Disu, a shop owner, said: “This is what governance at the grassroots should be. I wish other local government chairmen can emulate this. They have to do something, however small because they are the closest to the people.”
