Buhari’s Campaign Visit: Fayemi Warns Fayose Against Violence
The Kayode Fayemi Campaign Organisation has warned Governor Ayodele Fayose against carrying out his plot to cause violence during President Muhammadu Buhari’s visit to Ekiti State to attend the mega rally concluding campaigns of the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr Kayode Fayemi, for the July 14 governorship poll.
A statement by the Director of Media and Publicity, Wole Olujobi, said the campaign group is in possession of information that Fayose plans to stoke violence in the cattle-rearing zone of Oke-Ako area of Ikole Local Government and use it to embarrass the President.
He also alleged that Fayose deliberately chose the same visiting date of the President to ask youths to gather at Fajuyi area of the state capital to submit their application letters for employment.
But Olujobi warned Fayose against acts that can threaten the security and authority of President Buhari, reminding the governor that he swore to an oath to respect and protect the authority of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
He said: “We are in possession of information that Governor Fayose is plotting to import armed thugs to Oke-Ako area of the state that is notorious for bloody clashes between herdsmen and the community to stoke violent clashes and use the mayhem as propaganda to blackmail the President.
“We gathered that few days ago, armed men travelling in Government House security vehicles visited some parts of the state in the night, including Oke-Ako, for surveillance activities preparatory to the unleashing of terror to rankle the peace of the state and then use it to blackmail and embarrass the President.
“The armed thugs are already camped in the Government House while some have stayed back in hotels in Ekiti State after Thursday PDP rally to be deployed for election violence before and on the day of election.
“Some of them struck yesterday in Igbemo-Ekiti and Ire-Ekiti where an APC supporter was shot while some APC members in Igbemo-Ekiti received machete cuts on their heads.
“We also have it on good authority that Fayose is planning to invite youths in large numbers to cause violence in Ado-Ekiti on the day of APC mega rally with the excuse that  they are in the state capital to submit their employment forms.
“After APC rally, PDP thugs will start the attacks to menace APC members to create a sense of insecurity that can scare voters away from polling booths in the next week election.
“Again, we have since discovered that part of the intents of the voter’s list manipulation reportedly carried out by some bad eggs in INEC to allegedly help Fayose rig the election is to assist the governor in his post-election court disputes.
“This involves duplication of names on voter register and use that at the tribunal to nullify Fayemi’s election.”
Olujobi counselled Ekiti youths to stay clear of the governor, warning that he did not possess the role model qualities that could add value to their lives.
“If youths do not retrace their steps, they will always fall victims of Fayose’s callousness.
“During his campaign in 2014, he promised Ekiti youths 100,000 jobs in his first year. Almost four years in office, he did not employ a single youth, only to start campaign stunt all over again asking Ekiti youths to fill employment forms.
“Fayose is deceiving Ekiti youths, asking them to cause violence for the election of Prof Olusola Eleka that will protect his interest at the risk of the lives of the youth while he keeps his own children in safety abroad and the one in Ekiti State is being protected by no fewer than 10 policemen.”‎
