The Ekiti South Federal Constituency Two candidate in the March 2 House of Representatives election, Olufemi Bamisile, has urged voters in Ekiti State to vote for President Muhammadu Buhari to enable them own their present and plan for their future.
In a statement on Wednesday in Ado-Ekiti in reaction to Tuesday campaign rally by the President, Bamisile said the large turn-out at the rally signposted a commitment to have an ideal leader to drive Nigeria’s development process.
The former Speaker of Ekiti State House of Assembly urged the state voters to hold fast to their belief in Buhari’s leadership, saying that the records of achievements by the President in the last three and half years gave hope that it is in Buhari that young generations of Nigerians could have a life.
He said: “With the records of achievements by Buhari that are verifiable, it is clear that the President is the hope of this country after years of looting and plundering by the opposition that is working hard to seize power again to take Nigeria back to the years of looting.
“We listened to the President and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo yesterday talking about unprecedented infrastructure development and thousands of jobs that had been created, including plans to engage thousands of youths, including fresh graduates, in productive ventures to have a future.
“We also heard them talk about the empowerment programmes for women and social security for the elderly people, including agricultural schemes and dualisation of Ado-Akure road with potential to create jobs.
“Ekiti people should not miss the job opportunities that will be created through railway project being planned by Buhari in this year’s budget that will cost the Federal Government millions of dollars to ensure that Ekiti State joins the league of states with rail line facilities that will also create thousands of jobs.”
Stating that all these opportunities presented hope for a decent and productive living, Bamisile said February 16 presidential election is an opportunity for Nigerians, and Ekiti people in particular, to redirect their focus to a prosperous future by voting for Buhari as the President while also voting for all APC parliamentary candidates to support Buhari in his development agenda.
“We have seen the troubles in the Senate for some time now and how such troubles have held down Buhari’s development agenda.
“APC needs the majority in the Senate and House of Representatives to support Buhari in quickly responding to the Executive bills and other demands from the Presidency in the running of the nation’s affairs, all targeted at enhancing standards of living among Nigerians.
“At the state level, Governor Kayode Fayemi runs virtually the same programmes with the Federal Government, and a s result, we need overwhelming majority in the Ekiti State House of Assembly to enable the governor perform without any hinderance and distractions,” Bamisile explained.
He urged voters to get their voter cards ready for the polls and vote for all APC candidates to enjoy the benefits of visionary leadership by Buhari and Fayemi.
He warned against plans by the opposition to disrupt polls, saying the years they had wasted in putting Nigeria in economic chaos had done incalculable damage to the nation’s capacity for growth and development.
