Shehu Sani, incumbent senator representing Kaduna central, lost his polling unit to Uba Sani, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Saturday’s election.
The APC candidate enjoys the support of Nasir el-Rufai, governor of Kaduna state, who backed him to pick the ticket of the ruling party.
While the APC candidate secured 236 votes, the senator who ran on the platform of Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) got 56 votes at unit 20, Ungwar Seriki ward, in Kaduna north local government area.
Shehu Sani had pulled out of the APC after losing the party’s ticket for his second term at the senate.
He and el-Rufai fell out shortly after he was sworn into the national assembly.
