Ijebu Ode LG Revenue Collector Pushed Down Pregnant Woman From Moving Bike

Tension was high in Ita Alapo area of Ijebu Ode in Ijebu Ode Local Government on Thursday as sympathizers pound on a revenue collector in front of Great Foundation School in Ita Alapo area of Ogun state after he pushed a pregnant woman and her husband down from a moving motorbike because of non-provision of rider’s permit by the man.

The woman who is said to be about seven month pregnant and her husband identified as Mr Sunday who is a plumber were on their way to the clinic for medical check up when they met the revenue collectors along Ita Alapo area of the town.

Mr Sunday who was riding the motorbike was stopped by the revenue collectors who demanded for his rider’s permit.

He told them he wasn’t using the motor bike for commercial purpose but need to take his wife to the hospital fast because of her health condition.

Rather than allowing him go, one of the revenue collectors pushed the man and his wife and the heavily pregnant woman fell from the bike and landed on her tummy.

She started bleeding profusely before she was rushed to the hospital.

Sympathizers around who saw the woman crying and shouting for help pounced on the revenue collector that pushed the bike while his colleague took to his heels.

The culprit was given the beating of his life.

All attempts to speak to the pregnant woman prove abortive as she was only screaming on top of her voice requesting that her life and that of her unborn child should be saved.

An eye witness identified as Mr Ade said the officials of the state government had in the past caused series of accident at that spot while trying to extort money or seize motor cycles from commercial bike operators so as to meet the targets given to them by their superiors.
