His jeep was badly damaged by an electric pole which stopped it while the driver struggled to escape from their assailants.

His driver, Olayiwola, who managed to escape with bruises all over his body, told that they were ambushed by the stern looking gunmen numbering about four few meters away from his house.

He said immediately he sighted them in front of him, he pulled up and put the jeep in reverse, adding that they would have escaped the gunmen if the road was good.

“When I saw them, I put the jeep in reverse just to escape from them. They gave us a hot chase and started shooting into the air.

“They would not have succeeded if the road was good. I tried my best to ensure that we escaped but I was not seeing properly because it was very dark.

“The jeep was eventually halted by an electric pole and we could not procced further. I subsequently wriggled myself out of the badly damaged jeep and ran away.

“I don’t know the kind of vehicle they came with nor be able to recognise them because there was no light and it was very dark,” he said.
