Anambra State Governor, Dr Peter Obi, has condemned the killing of the former Deputy Governor of Anambra State, Dr. Chidi Nwike, describing it as pathetic, crude and inhuman.
Dr. Nwike was killed in Delta State by those suspected to have earlier kidnapped him.
Obi described his death as a great loss to Anambra State and Nigeria. “By this death, the State has lost another experienced voice in terms of advice about governance”, he said.
Obi, who described those that killed him as barbarians, wondered why some people could still take other’s life without compunction and said that such acts were vestiges of barbarism the country is trying to wipe out.
Further, he made it clear that such callousness strengthens his resolve to continue to fight crime of whatever shade in the State.
To the family of the deceased, he assured that Anambra State Government shares in their sorrows and prayed to God to strengthen them in this trying period.
