A six- man caretaker committee has been appointed for the Kwara State chapter of the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN.
An eight paragragh statement signed by the ACN National Secretary, Senator Lawal Shuaibu appointing Prince Shuaibu Olarewaju from Omu Aran in Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara State as the chairman of the new caretaker committee has five other members among whom were a gubernatorial aspirant in the state, Reverend Olubunmi Olusona and the Director General of the Mohammed Dele Belgore Campaign Organisation, Dr Saad Omoiya.
Other members include Alhaji Abdulraheem Akorede, Alhaji Samari Abdullahi and Mallam Issa Umar.
The statement dated April 23, 2013 titled “Appointment As Chairman of the Kwara State A C N Caretaker Committee“ with reference A CN/ADM/KW/07/158 addressed to the party chieftain in Ondo State, Comrade Sola Iji conveyed dissolution of the erstwhile Elder Kayode Olawepo led state executive/caretaker committee.
Though the dissolved Olawepo caretaker committee was copied, it was not immediately clear why the letter was addressed to the ACN party leader, Comrade Sola Iji of Ondo State ACN.
The statement tasked the new committee to eliminate factionalisation, ensure smooth running of the party, and ensure a seamless transition into the merger with other parties into a mega party.
It urged the new Exco to carry the old, elders and stakeholders along as it is only answerable to the national secretariat of the party.
