The Chief Press Secretary to the Edo State Governor, Mr. Peter Okhiria, has chided the Federal Government over its claim that it had delivered good roads in Edo state.
This came on the heels of the report presented by Mr. Labaran Maku, the Information Minister on the state of the roads in the state at the end of the good governance tour conducted to some states in Nigeria by the government team led by the minister.
Mr. Okhiria in a statement made available to the media stated that the minister should seek forgiveness over what he described as ” falsehood and distortion of facts in order to please his master”.
He also said that the fact that Edo and Lagos states did not grant space to Maku and his team on the Good Governance Tour was borne out of the fact that the Federal Government has nothing to showcase as its achievement in road construction in both Edo and Lagos states.
He opined that the minister should have apologised to Nigerians over failure of the Federal Government to fulfil its promise to the people of Nigeria and Edo state instead of embarking on sheer salesmanship with no products to sell.
“The progress of construction on roads like the Edo State projects at Five-Junction by the Adams Oshiomhole led-government is there for all to see,” stated Okhiria.
He accused the Federal Government of abandoning Amedokhian-Ukoni road in Edo Central flagged off last year by the Works Minister, Mike Onolemhemen.
