As 2014 governorship election in Osun State gathers momentum, the State Deputy Governor, Otunba Grace Titi Laoye-Tomori, has appealed to the parents in the state not to allow their children to be used as political thugs before, during and after the forthcoming governorship poll in the state.
Addressing a mammoth crowd on Sunday at the endorsement rally of the state Governor, Engineer Rauf Aregbesola for second term in office organised by the Osun Barbing/Hairdressing and Cosmetology Association (OBAHCA) in collaboration with De Raufs Group held at Freedom Park, Old Garage, Osogbo.
Otunba Laoye-Tomori who condemned thuggery in politics, urged the members of the association to conduct themselves in a peaceful manner throughout the period of their events.
She also disclosed that Aregbesola led administration in the state has provided employment opportunities for no fewer than 40,000 youths in the state as a way of preventing any attempt by youths to involve in restiveness and political thuggery.
The Deputy Governor, who described the members of the association as people of virtue, reiterated the commitment of the present administration in the state on its employment drive for the youths of the state, urging the youths to take full advantage of employment opportunities created by the state government in the areas of agriculture, culture and tourism amongst others.
Her words: I want to call on the people of the state to shine their eyes well, well during the forthcoming governorship election and vote for Governor Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola for second term in office. You will see that before the present administration came on board in the State of Osun, the state was not peaceful as people were living in brutish state but now, the state is peaceful as residents of the state can sleep with their two eyes closed. I will like to encourage you to form yourselves into cooperative societies so that you too can access the cooperative loan of the State government”.
Also speaking at the event, the Director General worldwide of the volunteer group, De Raufs, Comrade Amitolu Shittu, maintained that the association would continue to support the policies of Governor Rauf Argbesola’s government beyond 2014, praying for the success of the administration in office.
Similarly, the state president of the association, Mrs. Funmilayo Taiwo (aka Jollo Ten) declared the association unalloyed support to the policies and government of the state and Aregbesla’s second term bid, adding that the association with over 5,000 members across the 31 local government areas including Modakeke Area Office in the state would canvass and vote massively for Governor Aregbesola in 2014.
