From Timothy Agbor/OSOGBO

Pandemonium on Friday rented the atmosphere in Osogbo, Osun State as some students of Baptist High School and their counterparts in some secondary schools in the capital city engaged themselves in a bloody clash leaving four students severely injured.

Although the cause of the free for all could not be ascertained, some teachers disclosed that it was an inter-cult clash.

Thegazellenews.com learnt that some male pupils armed with machetes and other dangerous weapons besieged   the school in the morning and engaged the male students of Baptist High School in a bloody clash thus resulting to the sudden closure of the school.

When our correspondent visited the scene of the clash on Friday, there was confusion as students were sighted trooping out of the school before the closing time while some parents were seen rushing to the school to take home their wards.

Officials of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and a team of policemen were deployed to the school to douse the clash in order to forestall it from degenerating into a total breakdown of law and order.

Eyewitnesses account revealed that four students were injured during the crisis. Our correspondent who visited the school discovered that policemen in police van with the inscription of Oja-Oba Police Station arrested two male pupils and two female pupils and whisked them away.

But some of the students and residents around the school while speaking withthegazellenews.com noted that those arrested were not the ones involved in the clash stressing that they are innocent.

However, the Public Relations Officer of the NSCDC, Mr. Ayo Olowe, confirmed the incident to our correspondent on the telephone saying that the situation was put under control by prompt response from the men of the command.
