Tears flow freely on Wednesday from the eyes of residents of Irojo Street in Atakunmosa East Local Government Area of Osun State when a 56-year-old father, Pa. Ayodele Adetoyinbo, was murdered in cold blood by his 18-year-old son, Olalekan over empty kegs.
The tragic incident occurred at GEJ 6, Irojo Ilesa on 13th November, 2013 at about 7:30pm.
Adetoyinbo Olalekan who was arrested by a team of Police Detectives attached to ‘B’ Division, Ijamo in Ilesa after some of his neighbours reported the matter at the police station revealed that he hit his father with a cement brick after the latter accused him of stealing six empty kegs.
Olalekan who is currently cooling off in the police net confessed that when he returned from school on that fateful day, his father accused him of stealing his empty kegs, an allegation that sparked hot arguement between Olalekan and his father.
After trying to convince his father of his innocence in the alleged missing of the six empty kegs, Olalekan was said to have smashed a cement brick on his father thus inflicting severe injuries on him. The victim was also said to have lost consciousness immediately.
Police source told thegazellenews.com that upon the arrival of a team of police detectives to the scene of the incident, Pa. Adetoyinbo was taken to a hospital but could not make it as a medical doctor confirmed him dead few minutes later.
Confirming the incident, the state police command Public Relations Officer, Mrs. Folasade Odoro, an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) revealed that the lifeless body of Pa. Adetoyinbo has been deposited at the morgue of Wesley Guild Hospital, Ilesa for autopsy.
Meanwhile, the state Commissioner of Police, CP Dorothy Gimba has directed immediate and diligent investigation into the matter adding that the suspect would be arraigned at conclusion of investigation.
