Police Dock Student For Raising False Alarm On ‘Missing’ Penis

From Timothy Agbor/OSOGBO

A 25-year-old student of College of Education, Ila-Oragun, Ogunrinde Victor, has been dragged before a Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Osogbo, Osun State for allegedly accusing a man, Ibrahim Ismaila of weakening his penis immediately after he offered Ismaila a certain amount of money.

It was gathered that Ismaila, who was travelling to Ilorin was stranded at Ila-Orangun before he saw Ogunrinde who was standing on the street of Ila-Orangun and begged him to assist him with certain amount that would take him to his destination.

After many pleas, Ogunrinde, who had offered Ismaila an undisclosed amount of money, started shouting on top of his voice that his manhood has been weakened. This development necessitated a crowd that apprehended Ismaila and dragged him to ‘B’ police division, Ila-Orangun.

According to the police prosecutor, Inspector James Idoko, the incident happened on 28th October, 2013 at around 2pm. He noted that after Ogunrinde lodged the complaints at the Ila-Orangun Police station, his penis was checked but there was no trace of weakness.

The prosecution further stated that a medical expert was sought for and he confirmed that Ogunrinde was only suffering from psychological problem saying his penis was intact.

Not pleased with the outcome of the investigations by the Ila-Orangun police detectives, Ogunrinde was said to have petitioned the state Commissioner of Police, CP Dorothy Gimba asking her to order a thorough investigation to the alleged weakness of his penis.

It was further gathered that another medical expert confirmed that Ogunrinde’s manhood was not tampered with. A police source had told our correspondent that Ogunrinde while making his statement with the police said he had made love with his lover after the incident.

Having discovered that it was a false accusation and information to the police, Ogunrinde was arraigned with a two-count charge of breach of public peace and giving of false information to the police.

The charge sheet obtained by our correspondent in court reads in part: “that you, Ogunrinde Victor, on 28th October, 2013 at about 2pm at Ila-Orangun in Ila-Orangun Magisterial District did conduct yourself in a manner likely to cause breach of public peace when you went out shouting for help that one Ibrahim Ismaila has tampered with your penis and rendered it weak knowing same to be false”.

However, Ogunrinde pleaded not guilty to the accusations and his counsel, Mr. Henry Odunayo prayed the court to grant him bail saying that he is presumed innocent until the contrary is proved.

Chief Magistrate Mohammed Lasisi then granted Ogunrinde bail in the sum of N50, 000 with one surety in the like sum adding that the surety is to provide evidence of means of livelihood and also furnish the court with tax clearance certificate.

The matter was adjourned till 28th February, 2014 for mention.
