Exclusive! Actress’ Petition Opens Can Of Worms In Bishop Oyedepo’s School; Head Teacher Demoted, Teachers Sacked

A private school in Ogba Lagos is currently enmeshed in internal crisis following a petition purportedly authored by Nollywood star, Chioma Chukwuka-Akpotha.

The school, Kingdom Heritage School owned by the General Overseer of Winners’ Chapel, Bishop David Oyedepo, is at the moment going through an internal crisis which has pitched the school’s Parents-Teachers Association against the management.

According to information, not less than five teaching staff of the primary school, including a Pastor at the Redeem Christian Church of God (RCCG) has been sacked and others demoted or suspended in response to a petition written by Nollywood star, Chioma Chukwuka-Akpotha who is also a member of the Parents/Teachers Association of the school after the school’s last joint exam.

Thegazellenews.com gathered that trouble started in the school late last year when in her petition to the school management, Chioma accused the teachers at the Kingdom Heritage, Ogba of aiding examination malpractices among the young pupils during the last examination.

Chioma singled out the school head teacher, Deaconess Olabisi Aderounmu, and another Mr. Osuntayo of spearheading the illicit act among the kids.

However, the resultant effect of the petition had seen heads roll in the highly expensive private school as both Mrs. Olabisi Aderounmu and Mr. Osuntayo have been demoted and sacked respectively.

Other teaching staff affected by the management’s action are: Mrs. Afolayan and Mr. Obademi who are both suspended.

Others who received sack letters are the duo of Mr. Michael Omolaoye and Ghanaian born Mr. Ossai who has since returned to his native Ghana.

Meanwhile, Mrs. Aderounmu who has been demoted to the classroom from the position of the head teacher according to information obtained by thegazellenews.com was not on duty in the school when the reported incident of helping pupils occurred.

She was said to be on supervision in another branch of the school in Ojodu and may not be guilty of the offence she was accused of. Also, Mr. Osuntayo and Mr. Michael Omolaoye were said to be highly respected and loved by the parents and the duo may just be victims of jealous by some people in the system.

A parent who spoke withthegazellenews.com on condition of anonymity said the sacked Mr. Osuntayo is a man of good character and both the pupils and their parents love him, adding that if the man is not recalled, some parents may be forced into withdrawing their children from Kingdom Heritage School a decision that will not go down well with the owner, Bishop David Oyedepo who is said to be completely in the dark on issues happening in some of these schools nationwide.

Thegazellenews.com called one of the affected teachers, Mr. Michael Omolaoye who is the class teacher to Chioma Apotha’s six year old son, Jaden Apotha, the young man who had serve the school in the last two years in his explanation said, the situation that led them to being sacked was unwarranted and the situation has embarrassed his personality as a Pastor at the Redeemed Christian Church of God, “it was a shock to most of us. There was nothing of such in the school before that action was taken. The people who investigated the matter did not do well. We were treated unjustly. The petition which the management acted upon was biased. The photo evidence was taken in my class during a revision exercise and not during exam. I saw the woman who took the picture and reported to the head teacher. It was a wicked act.”

Omolaoye who also confirmed the fact that Mrs. Olabisi Aderounmu was not in school during the period, said there was nothing like seeing any teacher trying to help any pupil during the joint examination.

He urged the management to try to investigate matters very well before taking decisions, as this often times affects innocent people.
