National Confab: COSEG Warns Yoruba Leaders Over Bias Delegate List

Yoruba group, Coalition of Oodua self-determination groups (COSEG) has warned Yoruba leaders over the delegate list to the proposed National Conference, stressing that any attempt to put sentiment into the selection of delegates will spell doom.

A statement issued in Lagos by the Chairman of the group, Dayo Ogunlana stated that the selection of delegates to the conference must cut across all groups in the zone noting that anything short of that, will lead to “friction” and eventually create unnecessary bickering among stakeholders and groups in the zone.

According to COSEG, “We want to use this medium to warn our leaders not to be partisan in their choice of delegates to the conference. Because we shall not accept a situation where charlatans, narrow minded and gold diggers who will sell our race with offer of a pot of porridge will be nominated to represent a distinguish and uncommon race like ours”.

COSEG posited that several sons and daughters of Yoruba have paid the supreme sacrifice agitating for the Sovereign National Conference (SNC) hence, sentiment and bias must be removed when nominations are being made for the national conference.

“We shall condemn and revolt against any list that do not throw up our best across all groups in Yoruba land.

“Emphatically, COSEG will take serious exception to domination of this delegate list by any group,” the group noted.

Finally, COSEEG warned that whoever goes to mortgage the cause of Yoruba at the conference will be severely dealt with.
