As members of the Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) go to the polls tomorrow to elect new executive members for the party during its state congress,thegazellenews.com can exclusively and authoritatively revealed that the interim Chairman of the party in the state, Chief Henry Oladele Ajomale, will return as the substantive party chairman.
This medium gathered there was huge interest in the various offices of the party at the state level with more than 196 people jostling for just 135 state offices.
For the state chairmanship slot, thegazellenews.com learnt that aspirants like the current state Commissioner for Home Affairs and Culture, Oyinlomo Danmole; former state Commissioner for Tourism, Senator Tokunbo Afikuyomi; and former Deputy Chief of Staff to Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinunu and ex-state Head of Service, Sunny Ajose; were among those who indicated intention to become state chairman of the party.
However, after several meetings with the Governors’ Advisory Committee (GAC) comprising of elders of the party in the state, National Leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu; and other stakeholders in the party, it was agreed through consensus that Ajomale should continue in office.
The secretary position has been zoned to the Lagos Central Senatorial District and it was gathered the current Chairman of Lagos Island Local Government, Wasiu Eshinlokun-Sanni, has been pencilled down for the role replacing Pastor Charles Odugbesi.
Another casualty of the previous exco was former Deputy Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Adetoun Adediran, who, thegazellenews.com learnt, has forfeited her position, Women Leader, to one Mrs Agbalajobi from Iru/Victoria Island Local Council Development Area.
In another major change, Cardinal James Omolaja Odunmbaku, will become the state Deputy Chairman of the party while erstwhile state Deputy Publicity Secretary, Chief Funso Ologunde, takes over his position as the Vice Chairman, Lagos West Senatorial District.
Thegazellenews.com learnt further that astitue politician, Fouad Alade Oki, hasd been pencilled down to take the position of Vice Chairman, Lagos Central Senatorial District while Joe Igbokwe retains his position as the Publicity Secretary of the party in the state.
