The Nigeria Federation of Catholic Students (NFCS), Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Osun State chapter, a family known for love and unflinching piety for God and fellow students, recently rolled out drums to mark its 2014 Week where it renewed its love amidst fun and pageantry.
In spite of the tight academic and extra-curricular activities on campus, the Catholic students under the umbrella of NFCS trooped out in their large numbers to celebrate the Week that was held between Sunday, 6th April to Sunday, 13th April, 2014.
NFCS also used the Week tagged “Festival of Love” (Eph. 3:19) to foster oneness and sense of belonging among Catholic students and non-Catholics alike.
When the Week kicked off on Sunday 6th April, 2014, with its opening Mass at Our Lady of Perpetual Light Chapel, Religious Ground, OAU campus, the officiating priest who is the Chaplain of the chapel, Rev. Fr. Ayo Abe urged students to participate actively throughout the week saying that God’s love should prevail in all their daily activities.
Fr. Abe, during his lecture, emphasised the need for the world to imbibe in God’s love and live a life devoid of hatred and rancour. He stressed that love conquers everything and also brings joy to one’s life.
The Week featured various programmes like carnival/publicity, rosary procession, operation feed NFCS on campus and in town, film show, singles forum and variety night.
