Group Endorses Aregbesola For Second Term As PDP Members Defect To APC In Obokun Council

Thousands of All Progressive Congress (APC) supporters in Obokun Local Government Area of Osun State, southwest Nigeria converged on the ancient town of Ibokun to endorse the State Governor Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola for a second term in office.

The colourful programme with massive turn out of crème de la crème in the area was organized by Obokun Grassroots Organisation (OGO) also witnessed the defection of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members to APC.

Speaking at the event, the Executive Secretary of the local government, Dr Gbenga Ogunleye in his welcome address noted that the large turnout of the people was a clear indication that the party is ready to return Gov. Aregbesola back to Bola Ige house for a second term in office.

He however charged the people to prepare adequately for the forth coming election and not to sell their voter’s cards.

Lending his voice to the endorsement of Ogbeni for second term in office, an APC chieftain, Dr. Adewale Elijah who was Special Adviser to Lagos State Government on Education between 2007 and 2011, described Aregbesola as God sent to the state as his numerous projects have affected the lives of the people positively.

Represented by his political aide, Lekan Odediran, the state Commissioner for Lands, Physical Planning and Urban Development, Arc. Muyiwa Ige, who could not attend the event because he was on official assignment, lauded the people for the impressive turnout and charged them to come out en masse to support Ogbeni at every campaign rally and particularly on the election day.

“Your support for Ogbeni must be total, I mean 100 percentin Obokun especially Esa-Oke. We must not be intimidated; we must come out in large numbers and protect our votes, “Ige said.
He however enjoined the group to intensify their efforts in door to door campaign and to convert others to APC.

Responding on behalf of other PDP defectors, Mr Sunday Agala who was one of the leading PDP figures in Esa-Oke noted that he had left PDP for good and he is ready to work for the success of re-election bid of the Governor and APC at large.

He lauded Arc. Muyiwa Ige for working on him and his team to abandon the torn umbrella of PDP for focused APC.

Other notable figures at the event are Barrister Modupe Olomolehin, former Chairman of Obokun Local Government; Hon. Adeloye Agunbiade, Special Adviser to the Governor on Agriculture; Alhaja Peju Adeniyi, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Women Affairs; Mr Gbenga Fayemiwo; Mr Niyi Oyekunle; Chief Abiodun Owoeye; Executive Secretary of Obokun Local Government Education Authority amongst others.
