The Ooni who described the late Emir as a friend noted that the monarch’s death was very devastating and another death too many.
Oba Sijuade, in a condolence message in Osogbo said the late Emir of Kano was a great leader of substance who would not hurt a fly nor discriminate against any faith, tribe, creed or colour.

The message reads: “the news of the passing away of his Majesty, Alhaji Ado Bayero, the Emir of Kano came to me as a rude shock, very devastating and another death too many. My personal friend of many decades, a great leader of substance, a scholar in his own right, a man who doesn’t take no for an answer, a correct man.
“An Emir who will not hurt a fly nor discriminate against any faith, tribe, creed or colour. An Emir that lived with the truth everyday of his life till death took him away.
“Alhaji Ado Bayero was a great man of peace and harbinger of national unity. As unacceptable as the news is, God knows the best. It is the Almighty Allah alone that gives and spares.
“The Emir, Obi of Onitsha and myself had over the decades been in the vanguard of preaching oneness, unity, peace and stability across the land.
“I send my heartfelt condolence to the great people of Kano, the Ado Bayero Royal Family, distinguished members of the Emirate Council of Kano, the governments of Kano State and Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
