Aregbesola Advocates Prosecution of Electoral Offenders

By Timothy Agbor, Osogbo

Osun State Governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, on Tuesday, 17th June, 2014, advocated for the prosecution of electoral offenders in the country.

Governor Aregbesola said this during the governorship campaign rally of his re-election held at Iwo/Olaoluwa/Ayedire Federal Constituency in the state.

According to Governor Aregbesola, electoral offenders should be jailed if found guilty of rigging any election at tribunal stressing that it would help at reducing the rate of electoral fraud in the country.

Governor Aregbesola while noting that the 2007 governorship election in the state was rigged before he reclaimed his mandate in November 2010 said those involved in the rigging should not have been spared.

He then disclosed that, should his party, the All Progressive Congress (APC) takes over power in 2015 from the ruling Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) at the federal level, electoral offenders will be prosecuted and jailed.

Addressing the mammoth crowd that thronged the venue of the rally, the governor advised the people of the state against voting the Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate, Senator Iyiola Omisore saying should the latter be allowed to rule the state, it would have a negative impact in the state.

The governor assured the people of the state of continued developmental projects urging them to vote massively for APC so as to ensure continuity as his administration strives to develop the state in all its form.

Governor stunned the crowd when he announced that his predecessor, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola is now one of the leaders of APC, saying he has allegedly defected from PDP to APC.

Speaking at the rally, Senator Sola Adeyeye representing Osun Central Senatorial District in the Senate said Governor Aregbesola has done a lot that deserves a re-election.

Senator Adeyeye who is the Chairman, Aregbesola Campaign Planning Committee said Governor Aregbesola has rehabilitated Gbongan to Iwo road saying the administration of Aregbesola was working on constructing Iwo to Osogbo road among other projects.
