Osun 2014: Aregbesola Charges Christians, Muslims, Others On Unity

By Timothy Agbor, Osogbo

Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun state on Tuesday, 1st July, 2014 charged citizens of the state to see themselves as one in spite of their religious differences.

Speaking at his campaign rally held at Ibokun, Ijesha North Federal Constituency on the same day, ahead the governorship election slated for August 9 in the state, Governor Aregbesola urged Christians, Muslims and traditional adherents in the state to be united and foster peace in the state.

Governor Aregbesola while addressing the mammoth crowd that thronged L. A. Middle School, Ibokun, venue of the re-election campaign rally in Ijesha dialect, advised them not to allow opposition parties in the state to create disharmony among them as the election approaches.

According to Aregbesola, the opposition parties are liars from the pit of hell and they want to use religious differences to discredit him saying it would not work for them.

The governor who said his administration has commenced the payment of June salary despite the shortage in the federal government’s allocation to the state, noted that he would not relent in making life worth living for the citizens of the state.

He stated that come August 9, the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) in the state will emerge victorious and would continue the developmental projects his administration has already embarked upon in the state.

Governor Aregbesola however advised electorate to vote with all they have no matter what the opposition parties do.

His words: “Christians, Muslims and traditional worshippers are offspring of the same parent. What opposition parties are saying is a lie from the pit of hell. We have started paying June salary to civil servants in the state and this in spite of the Federal Government’s to reduce our allocation from the federation account .

“Let’s be ready to vote with all that we have during the August 9 election. Let’s put in everything that we have; no matter what the opposition does, we shall stand and vote. I thank you for your support and by the grace of God, come August 10, we shall be triumphant and happy.

“We (his administration) shall continue to take over the Government House and Office. You (electorate) have not seen anything yet, we shall do more”.
