DELTA State Governor, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan has commended media
practitioners for the pivotal roles they are playing in development of the country, describing the media as veritable tool for progress that deserved strengthening.
Receiving the General Manager of the Nigeria Television Authority (NTA), Mrs. Martina Onoh, paid him a courtesy visit in Asaba on Wednesday, 19th November, 2014, Governor Uduaghan said the media ought to be encouraged to carry out its traditional functions of informing, educating and entertaining the public, noting that his administration sees the media as partners in progress.
“As a state we will continue to support the media because we understand the importance of the media,” the Governor said, while commending the NTA for its pioneering role in the promotion of government programmes and activities in the country.
He also commended staff of the television station for their dedication, diligent and for demonstrating sense of ownership in the protection and maintenance of the equipment of the station.
Dr Uduaghan observed that the manner in which the staff of the NTA maintain the equipment they work with has helped to prolong their lifespan and urged other public servants to emulate such gesture.
He assured the new General Manager of NTA, Asaba of the state government’s continuous support and assistance to enable the station perform optimally and serve its viewers better.
Mrs. Onoh had observed that the peace and security agenda of the Governor Uduaghan’s administration has been effective as, “Asaba is very peaceful and Delta State has highly accommodating people and it shows that this government wants to develop in leaps.”
She thanked Governor Uduaghan for his administration’s contributions towards the growth of journalism in the country and urged him to always assist the NTA, Asaba.
