Just In! Kidnappers Call UNIOSUN ASUU Chairman, Demand N50m Ransom To Release Wife

The gunmen who kidnapped Mrs Funmilayo Abiona, wife of the Chairman of the University of Osun (UNIOSUN) branch of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Dr Oluseye Abiona, were said to have called the husband to demand for N50 million ransom.

Thegazellenews.com learnt that the captive was said to have spoken with her husband telling him she was okay where she was being kept.

Efforts to speak with the ASUU chairman were unsuccessful as the man was too disturbed to speak with the media.

However, a source close to him said that the case had been reported to the police.

The source said that Funmilayo was allowed by her abductors to speak with her husband when they called to demand for a ransom of N50 million.

They were reported to have called at about 4.30 pm on Saturday, 20th December, 2014.

Funmilayo was kidnapped on the evening of Friday, 19th December, 2014 on her way home from her shop located at UNIOSUN junction along Ibokun road at Oke Baale area of the state capital.

About five gunmen wearing red shirts blocked her way at Old Garage area while she was waiting for her younger she sent to get an item for her in a shop.

She was forcefully taken away by her abductors leaving her two children in the car.
