Barrister Morayo Lebi has emerged winner of the Ondo South Senatorial ticket in a landslide victory at the All Progressive Congress (APC) senatorial primaries held on Monday, 8th December, 2014 at Adolak Hotel, Ore.
Lebi pulled 1,261 landslide votes to defeat his rival, Femi Akingbola, who has 156 votes.
The Returning Officer, Duro Adonis, who announced the results said that the total delegates accredited were 1,467 adding that total valid votes cast were 1,417 while invalid votes was 50.
Adonis said that the election was peaceful and well organised adding that all the aspirants’ agents and candidates accepted the results of the election.
Lebi in an interview with reporters said that the victory was a well deserved one adding that he dedicated the victory to his supporters.
He said that the emancipation of his people was utmost in his mind adding that his senatorial district would experience unprecedented development if he elected in the general election in February 2015.
Lebi, who is also a lawyer, expressed optimism that he would defeat any of his contender in other rivalry parties at the 2015 polls.
“Our people are tasty for change because they are tired of endless promises of the opposition party and I tell you that the wind of change is already blowing all over the country.
“My people have repose their trust and confidence in me and I will never let them down because my senatorial district will witness unprecedented change and development,” Lebi said.
Mr Paul Oyeto, APC South Senatorial Chairman, also expressed satisfaction at the conduct of the primary election saying that it was peaceful and well organised.
“I thanked the supporters for their decorum and peaceful organisation, APC is known for organisation and unity, all these will be put in place to dislodged the opposition in 2015 general elections,” Oyeto said.
