The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Senator Iyiola Omisore closed the prosecution of his petition against the re-election of Governor Rauf Aregbesola before the State Election Petition Tribunal on Wednesday, 3rd December, 2014.
Omisore is challenging the re-election of Aregbesola before Justice Elizabeth Ikpejime-led tribunal.
Counsel to the petitioners, Mr Nathaniel Oke (SAN) at the close of sitting on Wednesday, 3rd December, 2014 applied to close the case of his clients.
The petitioners closed their cases after calling 43 witnesses, two of whom were claimed to be expert witnesses within 14 days.
They also tendered 388 exhibits ranging from ballot papers, results forms at various levels, voters register, among others to prove their allegations.
Applying to close the case of his client, Oke appreciated the tribunal and the respondents for their cooperation in the proceedings so far.
Aregbesola’s counsel, Mr Femi Falana (SAN) also appreciated the tribunal and promise to open the defence on behalf of his client early next week.
Each of the respondents has 10 days each to defend the case.
The tribunal then adjourned till Monday, 8th December, 2014 for the first respondent to open his defence.
