The Chairman of Heyden Petroleum Limited and All Progressives Congress(APC) candidate for Ogun East Senatorial District, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has said that his party is poised to sweep all elective positions in the state during the 2015 general elections.
Abiodun who has moved out swiftly after winning his party’s primaries for his senatorial district to mobilize the support of his people for the APC spoke at a media parley on Wednesday, 17th December, 2014 in his Iperu country home where he assured that he was going into the Upper Chamber of the National Assembly to promote commerce in the district, ensure power supply to every nook and cranny of the area as well as ensuring that the full potentials of the district are activated for the benefits of the people.
The senatorial candidate observed that the socio-economic and political situation in the country remains unpalatable because successful businessmen like him have stayed away from active politics for too long.
The APC chieftain noted with regret that successful businessmen and women should take the bold step to come into politics to apply their business acumen in turning the situation in the country round for the benefit of the people.
He was of the opinion that if businessmen and women who had excelled in their various business sectors could come on board politics, they would be able to draft and influence laudable policies that would help the nation identify and explore all available potentials.
Abiodun explained that his coming to contest for the senatorial seat was borne out of his desire to serve his people, adding that as a successful businessman, he is willing to join Governor Ibikunle Amosun in transforming the district through attracting Federal Government presence to the state.
The investor discloseed that the Olokola Free Trade Zone in the district would be explored to the maximum by making it a destination for investors.
To him, the spiral effect of the move would transform the lives of the people in the district a great deal.
Speaking on his chances of emerging victorious in the general elctions, he stated that his people are aware of his unequalled positive track records.
According to him, “My people are highly educated and they know what they want. Nobody can just tell them to vote for somebody, but rather they would vote according their conscience. Besides, the opposition party had spent eight years and have nothing to show for it. Now they are coming back to our people to seek their votes even when they can’t justify the eight years they just spent in power, with nothing to show the people as their achievement. That’s where they are missing it because our people know them as those who have failed them in the past.
“Our campaign group has become a movement, people are coming to join us voluntarily not because of money because a lot of wealthy individuals have joined us including Otunba Babatunde Onakoya (DEBASCO). He’s the leader of mobilization of our campaign team. ”
Abiodun further revealed that he joined APC because the ideology of the party aligns with his and believed he could help his people through the platform mostly especially with the tremendous performances of Governor Amosun.
He disclosed that even before his emergence at the party’s primaries, he had met with religious leaders and various interest groups, artisans, market women and men among others.
The APC candidate therefore expressed confidence and optimism in the ability of his party to win the 2015 polls across board in the state.
