A call has gone out to all residents of Agege Local Government to eschew violence before, during and after the coming general election.
Making the call at a press briefing in Agege on Thursday, 29th January, 2015, was the Executive Secretary Agege Local Government.
Barrister Omofunmilewa Adejomobo. The press briefing was called to discuss issues bothering on the safety of lives and properties in the local government.
Making reference to an incident that at sister council, Orile Agege Development Council Area last week, where a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Eyitayo Peters, was killed and another, Lekan Ogunjimi critically injured by members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the counci boss said the press briefing bcame necessary to forestall a repeat of such sad incident in the local government, and to assure residents of the local government of the safety of their lives and properties.
Barrister Adejomobo warned miscreants and political thugs wishing to cause crisis to stay away from the local government as his administration will not condone such from any one irrespective of political saying he is ready to ensure that the full wrath of the law on perpetrators of violence in the local government.
“We are assuring our people that we will do everything within our legitimate power to protect their lives and properties,” he said.
Also speaking at the briefing, the APC Secretary in Agege, Mr. Ganiu Egunjobi called on the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the Inspector General of Police, Sulaiman Abba, to call PDP members to order.
He called on the IGP to ensure that the police remain neutral in their activities before, during and after the coming election.
