The desperation of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidates Mr. Segun Adewale, popularly called Aeroland by his admirers, to clinch the senatorial seat of the Lagos West Senatorial District took a dangerous dimension on Saturday, 31st January, 2015 as he allegedly personally led policemen and thugs to attack the campaign office of Hon. Solomon Adeola, All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial candidate for Lagos West Senatorial District at 32 Adeniyi Jones Avenue, Ikeja.
Thegazellenews.com learnt that the attack took place at about 7.15pm.
Eye witness account alleged that the PDP candidate was told personally wielding a pump action rifle and allegedly releasing some volley of shots into the air.
APC supporters at the scene took to their heels as Aeroland was alleged to be shouting on top of his voice asking his opponent to come out if he is man enough.
The gate of the campaign office of Adeola popularly called Yayi, was damaged as well as the rear windshield of his Toyota Land cruiser Jeep parked inside the office premises. Equally bullet pellets damaged the exterior of the office room of Adeola’s office.
The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ikeja Police has been informed and was reported to be on his way as this report was being written.
It will be recalled that Adewale has been going about with police men and thugs shooting sporadically into air and generally intimidating innocent citizens.
On Friday, 23rd January, 2015, he led his supporters and thugs on ambush attack on an APC campaign team at Mosan-Okunola cum Ayobo/Ipaja axis leaving many people critically injured and about 15 vehicles destroyed.
During the attack, it was obvious that their target was the APC candidate for Alimoso State Constituency 1, Honourable Bisi Yusuf, as vehicles at his campaign office were destroyed.
According to some aides of Adeola who spoke with thegazellenews.com, the latest attack today was “a brazen assassination attempt as both the vehicle and personal office of Adeola was hit by bullets fired by PDP candidate who came in his branded campaign vehicle to carry out the attack.
As at the time of the attack Adeola was in his office attending to party supporters after a visit to Awori Obas earlier in the day.
