Osun State Government on Monday, 5th January, 2015 began the 2015 programmes and activities with inter-religious service just as it charged the public workers to re-dedicate themselves to service with the aim of achieving optimum results.
The inter-religious service held at the Government Secretariat, Abere was attended by leaders of the three religions, civil servants, traditional rulers, market men, market women, artisans, civil societies, politicians among others.
The state Head of Service, Mr. Yinka Owoeye who led state workers to the prayer programme assured the state government of support and cooperation of the workers of the state.
He stressed that workers would be more dedicated and committed to the course of the government’s programmes and policies for the growth and development of the state.
In his sermon at the occasion, the state Chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Rev. Elizar Ogundiya lamented that the nation’s leaders lacked the fear of God despite efforts of men of God preaching the words of wisdom in the holy Bible and Quran.
While declaring that Nigerians as being bunch of ingrate who have failed to have the fear of God in the administration of the country, he warned the political class against harbouring bitterness in politics advising them to allow fear of God in the affairs of the nation.
Similarly, Alhaji Ma’ruf Ishola, Mufasir of Osogbo, in his sermon said that lack of fear of God is the cause of the problems confronting the country stressing the unity of the country as very paramount and essential at this crucial period.
He explained that the only way “we can have peace, growth and development is to fear God”.
Governor Rauf Aregbesola while speaking called on the people of the state to shun the antics of the opposition saying they are meant to deceive the people.
He said that his victory during the August 9th governorship election was God doing adding that nothing can change it.
On the next elections Aregbesola said that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had been in government since 1999 and since then nothing good has been done to alleviate the suffering of Nigerians.
He said,”It is glaring that God is not with them. Let us use our vote to chase out Jonathan and PDP out of power.
“The All Progressives Congress (APC) is the only party that can bring changes. The APC government has agreed to replicate some of our programmes at the centre”.
Aregbesola said that vote for Buhari and APC will bring more dividends of democracy to the state as the APC’s government at the centre had agreed to take our school feeding programme; welfare package for elderly persons among others and we would at the end have more money for other projects.
He admonished the people of the state to cast their votes enmasse for APC and Buhari.
He alerted of the alleged plot by the opposition in the state to cause chaos in the state urging the people to watchful, carefull and security conscious.
If we are careful and security alert, we will not witness any crisis.
