Governor of Osun State, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, has said just as his party dealt with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2011 state and National Assembly polls, no single seat would be left for the opposition after the February elections in the state.
Aregbesola stated this at the Iwo Federal Constituency electioneering campaign where the governor began his campaigns for all the candidates standing for elections in all the senatorial districts, federal and state constituencies in the state at the weekend.
The campaign tour took Aregbesola to Iwo, Ola Oluwa and Ayedire Local Government Areas whuch form the Iwo Federal Constituency.
He told the huge crowds that came out at Iwo, Ogbagba, Telemu, Ile Ogbo and Oluponna that the Yoruba people never have anything in common with anti-progressive political parties.
He stated that Yoruba people have always ppitched their tents with the progressives since the First Republic.
The governor noted that for 16 odd years under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) rule, Nigeria has not gained anything meaningful and enduring.
He enjoined voters in the local government areas and the whole state to vote for all the candidates of APC across board.
He urged the people of the Osun Westl Senatorial district to vote Senator Isiaka Adeleke, Senate; AbdulGahafar Amere, House of Representatives; Hon Akinloye Ajibola, Osun House of Assembly, Ola Oluwa; Leke Ogunshola, Aiyedire; and Abdulahi Gbadebo, Iwo state constituencies) for qualitative representation and good governance.
Aregbesola emphasised that the victory of August 9 governorship election in the state would be boosted with the party securing all the seats available both in upper, lower and state Legislative chambers.
He urged the people to also vote massively for the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) General Muhammadu Buhari, on Saturday, 14th February, 2015 election.
Aregbesola held that the much needed change that Nigerians are clamouring for can only be achieved when a progressive party like the APC is in power.
He said: “I want to use this opportunity to thank you for standing behind us during the last August 9 governorship election.
“We have again come back to solicit for your support in ensuring that we maintain a clean slate in the coming presidential and legislative elections.
“We are confident that with all we have done in the last four years, which to us is just a tip of the iceberg, contrary to insinuations that work has stopped, the state will begin to witness completion of all ongoing projects and introduction of new ones where necessary.
“The state and the party will achieve more if we have quality representations in our state House of Assembly, the House of Representatives and the Senate.
“To this end, we implore some of us, who have not collected their Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs) to do so.”
He averred that the February 14 and 28 elections are as significant as that of August 9 governorship election in the state.
He added that with the APC controlling the central government, Nigeria will witness all round development and positive turnaround of the nation’s lost glory.
Notable among candidates and aides of the governor from the area who accompanied the governor on the tour of the Federal Constituency were Adeleke, Amere, Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Moshood Adeoti; former Commissioner for Women Affairs in the state Mrs. Mofolake Adegboyega; and Director, Bureau of Communication and Strategy, Mr. Semiu Okanlawon.
All the elective positions in the federal constituency are currently occupied by members of the APC.
