The Lagos State coordinator of the Buhari/Osinbajo Campaign Organisation, Hon. James Faleke has restated that the All Progressives Congress (APC) was fully ready for the March 28 and April 11 polls.
He said the party would not tolerate any further shift of the elections, noting that APC would embark on a walk show on Saturday to demonstrate that Lagos residents are ready for the elections.
Addressing a news conference in Lagos, Faleke said the reports emanating from the on-going war against insurgency in the Northeast indicates that the military is winning the war, stressing that there is no reason for not holding the elections on March 28 and April 11.
He said: “Lagos State is ready; Nigerians are set for the polls. It is in view of the readiness that we are embarking on the walk show slated for March 7.
“The walk is also to say that Nigerians reject the return the dark age of the use of Temporary Voters Card (TVC), for the coming elections. There is no going back on the use of the Permanent Voters Cards (PVC).
Faleke said Nigerians were aware of the machination of the Presidency to win the Southwest at all cost, noting that Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has resorted to wasting the tax payers’ money on the project.
He said such money could have been used for more meaningful projects, instead of wasting the resources in the face of decaying infrastructure and other social needs of the people.
“I want to say that Nigerians have made up their mind and there is going to be a change at the centre by the grace of God. We are also using this occasion to tell the PDP that Senator Musiliu Obanikoro is not the best product they can offer. His role at the Ekiti election is still been queried.”
“During the walk which will be flagged off by our National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, will also have other APC leaders including Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, the Lagos governorship candidate Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode and our performing governor Babatunde Fashola.
“The walk will commence from Maryland through Ikorodu road and will terminate at Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere. The walk will commence by 7 am and we are hoping that before 12 noon, it would have been rounded off.
He said call by PDP not to use card reader, is because the party had been going about buying PVC for N10,000 each, noting that if card readers are used, the cards bought would be useless.
“They have been buying PVC, in order to clone their pin number, but this will be useless when card readers are used. Card readers will eliminate fraud, it will eliminate multiple voting and will make the election credible but because their plan is to rig they are not happy with the use of card readers.”
Falake maintained that it was PDP that accused the APC of cloning PVC, but up till now has not been able to substantiate their allegation.
He said the sudden successes recorded by the military in the fight against insurgency in less than six weeks show the administration lack the will power to curtail the ugly situation.
“The government at the centre is afraid of conducting elections. We will win the coming polls, and Mr. President knows this. He has decided to come to the Southwest distributing dollars, unknown to him the people have made up their mind to collect his money and vote against him.”
