Ikere-Ekiti Women Organize Solidarity Rally For Fayose; Call On APC Lawmakers To Embrace Dialogue

Women in Ikere Local Government Area of Ekiti State have organized a solidarity rally in support of the government of Governor Ayodele Fayose warning those trying to foment trouble in the state to desist and join hand with the governor to move the state forward.

The women, who were led by Mrs. Mojisola Ogunjemilua and Women Leader of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the local government, Mrs. Grace Alofun had converged on the Ereja/Post Office Market Square in the heart of the town as early as 6.00am to pray for the peace and development of the state before their peaceful procession to the king’s palace.

The prayer session was led by Pastor Emmanuel Amire of the Christ Apostolic Church, Onala, Ikere-Ekiti.

The leaders of the women, in their speech said that the war being waged on the state Governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose and his Deputy, Dr. Kolapo Olusola was another ploy by the ousted government of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to cause confusion in the state and retard its development.

According to Deaconess Ogunjemilua, the women gathered to offer prayers to God Almighty to prevail on those planning to lay siege on the state to have a change of heart so as to allow the state to forge ahead.

She said that Ikere Ekiti has never had it so good since the inception of democratic governance as none of the indigenes of the town that occupied strategic positions in the past have been allowed to complete their tenure, citing Evangelist Bamidele Olumilua as Governor in the old Ondo State, Surveyor Abiodun Aluko and Mr. Bisi Omoyeni as Deputy Governors were never allowed to complete their terms.

Also the PDP women leader, Mrs. Grace Alofun said that APC leadership in the state should accept defeat, calling on them to join hands with the government of Mr. Ayodele Fayose for the benefit of all.

The women in their thousands thereafter marched from the Ereja/Post Office junction in the town to the palace, chanting several anti-impeachment songs against the 19 All Progressive Congress (APC) lawmakers who were bent on removing the Governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose.

The Regent of Ikere, Princess Ayooye Adegboye-Oyinlola appealed to the women to conduct their anti impeachment protest in a peaceful manner.

Princess Adegboye-Oyinlola who commended the women for their love and concern for the peace and development of the state also appealed to the various factions to the crises to sheathe their swords and embrace dialogue.
