APC Debunks Report Claiming Tinubu Is Under Security Watch; Says No Rift Between Aregbesola, APC Leader Over Ministerial Slot

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has rejected as false, a publication in a national newspaper which claimed that a national leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu was under security watch.

According to the party in a statement by the Director of Media, Publicity, Research and Strategy, Barrister Kunle Oyatomi, “there is practically no basis for such an action because the relationship between the national leader and the president and other senior members of the party remains excellent‎”.

The APC described as “laughable and worrisome, the extreme desperation by some media houses in the country to create bad blood within the APC leadership in order to discredit the party.

“For any of the news outlets in the country to systematically demonise the ‎national leader of our party is most unpatriotic act against a leader who put his life on the line in conjunction with others to save Nigeria from the brink of collapse”.

The APC also frowned at the insinuation of the said publication that there was a lingering difference between Gov Rauf Aregbesola and the national leader over ministerial nomination.

According to the party, at no time did any governor of the APC in the South West unilaterally submitted names of ministerial nominees.

“To have therefore‎ suggested that there was a disagreement between Ogbeni Aregbesola and Asiwaju Tinubu on this issue is false and grossly mischievous,” the party said.

The party therefore‎ appealed to the media to exercise a high degree of responsibility and patriotism in the discharge of their duties, so that the polity is not overheated.

“The moment in which the country is, calls for patriotism‎ on all sides of our national engagement in other to keep jackboot dictatorship out of the polity permanently.

“Our collective struggle should be to grow democracy, promote freedom and enshrine peace and progress in Nigeria. We should not encourage insidious news report, capable of destabilizing the ‎country,” the party concluded.
