The police in Ondo State have arrested a prime suspect, Lucky Akinnuoye, who allegedly masterminded the abduction of a Chinese expatriate Jiang Peng Fei working at the JHX plywood factory in Ore, Odigbo Local Government Area (LGA) of the State.
Mr. Akinnuoye, a manager with the Keneri Hotel in Ore, was paraded alongside an accomplice Adegbayi Akinmusayo at the Police Headquarters in Igbatoro Road in Akure, the Ondo State capital.
Mr. Jiang Peng Fei, popularly called ‘Ginger’, was kidnapped and whisked away to an unknown destination last Thursday by the suspected hoodlums who were armed with locally made pistols.
The 25 year-old victim was later rescued unhurt by the police through a well-coordinated tactical operation, SaharaReporters learned.
The new Commissioner of Police in Ondo State, Mike Ogbodu, said the command swung into action upon receiving the information about the abduction of the Chinese expatriate. Mr. Ogbodu said the victim was rescued after the police tracked the mobile phones purportedly belonging to some of the abductors who are now at large and negotiating with the victim’s associates and business partners.
In a similar development a serial fraudster Daniel Obasi, who hacked the Facebook account of the embattled Deputy Governor of the State Lasisi Oluboyo, has been detained by the police. Mr. Obasi who lives at No. 1 Zion Street Port-Harcourt in River State, has been using the hacked account to hoodwink unsuspecting members of the public, especially close associates of the Deputy Governor.
The men of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) who nabbed the suspected fraudster said he belongs to a syndicate which hacks into the e-mail accounts of top government officials and impersonates them.
“The fraudsters hack into the Facebook account of their victims by creating another code in place of the owner’s original code and thereafter block their victims access to their account and begin to relate with members of the public by impersonation”, the police said.
