Tragedy! Two Teenage Brothers, On Xmas/New Year Holiday, Drown In Osun River Chasing Football

It was sorrow and mourning for the residents of Oke-Ijetu area, along Ilesa Garage road, Osogbo, Osun state, after two siblings were drowned in Osun river, located in Osogbo while trying to fetch a ball that fell into the mysterious river.

One of the residents of the area who witnessed the unfortunate incident explained to our correspondent that some boys were playing football  beside the river before their ball fell into the river.
The source who begged for anonymity further disclosed that, “While trying to fetch the ball, two boys, of the same parents fell into the river and made efforts to get the ball, but their bodies floated on the river minutes after.” 
Our correspondent gathered that the sad incident occurred on Saturday.
The source revealed that the late siblings, whose names were not known as at the time of filing this report disclosed that they aged 16 and 14.
It was further learnt that the children traveled to Osogbo to celebrate Christmas and New Years seasons with their elder sister living in the capital city of the state.
The remains of the siblings have been deposited at the morgue of the State Hospital in Asubiaro, Osogbo.
Relatives of the deceased were devastated when the sad news was broken to them. They were said to have besieged the Osun river to resuscitate them but they had given up the ghost before they arrived.
Weeping and gnashing of  teeth enveloped the area as relatives of the deceased duo could not be consoled.  
When contacted on the telephone by our correspondent on Sunday,  Osun State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Folasade Odoro said the incident was yet to be reported to the police.
