Amuwo Odofin Council Speaks On Importance Of Skill Acquisition 

Youths and other unemployed individuals in Amuwo Odofin Local Goverment Area and by extension Lagos State, have been advised to acquire skills for succor and hope of sustainability engagement for financial empowerment.

The advice came from the Chairman of Amuwo Odofin LGA,  Comrade Valentine Burhaimoh while speaking at the closing ceremony of the 3rd entrepreneurship skills acquisition and empowerment programme  organized by  the Church of the Pentecost, Anglican Communion, 21 road, Festac Town, Lagos.

Speaking further, Comrade Buraimoh stated that gainful employment was not limited to wage paying jobs alone,  as skills acquired could also guarantee regular income, stressing that being empowered with a good skill like what you have acquired here, was capable of transforming the life of anyone.


The immediate past Chairman of Amuwo Odofin LGA,  Comrade Ayodele Adewale, who was the Chairman of the occasion, commended Anglican Church’s commitment and vision to the cause of humanity,  which he noted centred on making life more meaningful for the less privileged.

Comrade Adewale while tasking churches to take clue from Anglican Church, urged the beneficiaries to take full advantage of the skills acquired to chart a new course for themselves and add value to the society.

He also appealed to the participants to see this opportunity as a golden one,  capable of turning things around for their permanent good and everlasting joy.

Earlier, the Vicar of the Church, Venerable Israel Owoyele,  described the entrepreneural programme as another major achievement for the Church,  adding that part of the Church’s obligation,  was to develop a skill acquisition and vocational training programme.


According to the Vicar,  this should be seen as part of their contribution towards complimentary government ‘s effort at curbing unemployment,  appealing that the Local Government should partner with them in realizing its goals.  Engr. Buraimoh responded that his administration will partner with the church to establish a vocational training center.

No fewer than 350 participants benefitted from the empowerment programme.
