Before her death on Saturday, Jummai Abubakar, the wife former Prime Minister Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, had revealed certain information regarding her husband and how he died.
Firstly, Jummai revealed that the late PM had told her how he got threat letters prior to the strike by young army mutineers on 15 January, 1966.
Secondly, she told of how only £10 pounds was found in the late PM’s bank account after his death.
Thirdly, the late Jummai said Tafawa Belewa left his dependents two cars and a mud house following his death.
Equally, Jummai painted the family’s pain when the late PM’s mother couldn’t see her son’s corpse despite being her only child at the time.
Jummai’s revelations were quoted from a 2016 interview she granted Daily Trust. She passed away on Saturday after suffering a cardiac seizure. She was aged 85.
The deceased was one of the late PM’s wives.
The others were Umma, Zainab, and Laraba.
Hajara Yakubu Wanka, a granddaughter of the late PM, confirmed the news of Jummai’s death.
