A renowned national TV political analyst Azeem Oladimeji Salako has accused the Deputy Governor of Ogun State, Engr. Noimot Salako and other elected and appointed political elites of the Ogun state Awori extraction of being dishonest and insincere to the very cause that took them to power. Salako Oladimeji, who is Ota indigene of the Awori ethnic group, said this during a democracy day lecture where he was invited as keynote speaker on the theme; KNOCK THE DOOR AND IT SHALL BE OPEN; Reviewing the Aftermath of a Year of Consistent Knocks- A case of Aworiland, Ogun state.
He argued that the adoption of Engr. Noimot Salako as the running mate to Dapo Abiodun of the APC in the build up to the 2019 Ogun gubernatorial election was based on both political and ethnic consideratio. He said since it was almost certain that the voting bloc in the Yewa axis of the Ogun West Senatorial District will be mobilized to support Adekunle Akinlade their golden son of the APM, it became imperative for the All progressive Congress to minimize the loss by zoning the deputy governorship to the Aworis, whose population is considerably larger than their counterparts in the Yewa axis of the senatorial district.
Aside this, the Aworis took the risk ignoring their political brother in the Yewa axis as well as the ambition to have the governorship seat zoned to the Ogun West District for the first time since the creation of Ogun state in 1976, by supporting their daughter, Noimot Salako with the hope that she will represent the agenda of the Aworis and her presence in government as the Deputy Governor will consecrate the totality of the pressing issues facing the people of her ingenious jurisdiction. He said top among the critical and pertinent problems facing the Aworis is the issue of creating Awori Traditional Council and it is on this basis her office and influence can be evaluated.
It is one year upon the emergence of the Dapo Abiodun/Noimot Salako APC government in Ogun state, not only has Awori Traditional Council remain idealistic, but government and none of the political elites elected to represent the Aworis have shown a sign of concern towards this pursuit.
“In a democracy, he noted, “governance should be seen as the supply of the demands aspired by the people.
“This is most meaningful within our understanding that, whatever that is collectively aspired is desirable (demand) and whatever that is desirable should be possibly achievable (supply).
“When there is a disconnection between demand and supply, basic understanding of political economy defines that as bad governance. The political analyst said, despite the traditional posturing of this organization, it remain a political creation that can be achievable ultimately with the state executive political will, in which the state governor unarguably controls. However, the influence of the deputy governor as well as other elected politicians towards achieving this aim cannot be underplayed”.
The political analyst submitted that a sound leadership role with strong commitment if exhibited by Her Excellency could tacitly influence the will of the Governor.
