The Government of the State of Osun has said it will do everything possible to ensure compliance with the total lockdown imposed on four local government areas of Ijesaland.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Security, Mrs. Abiodun Ige, stated this on Wednesday while moving round the affected four local government areas where the lockdown is imposed.
The state government had last week announced the total lockdown in four local government areas comprising Ilesa West, Ilesa East, Atakunmosa West and Mrs. Abiodun Ige.
Ige, who lauded the residents of the affected areas for adhering to government’s order, warned those flouting the directives to desist from the act.
She said that the enforcement team of the State’s COVID-19 Task Force is resolved to ensure impartial enforcement in all the nooks and crannies of the affected areas.
Ige revealed that the state’s enforcement team would jerk up its performance to further ensure total compliance, adding that there is no room for sacred cow in the exercise.
“I’m highly impressed that the level of compliance is improving day by day. With what we have seen today, the level of compliance has really improved even in some areas where we felt there would not be appreciable obedience to government’s order.
“Our visits to some of the areas that we thought we needed serious enforcement showed clearly that the people are now willingly complying with the lockdown order as there was no movement of vehicles and people in those areas.
“It is worthy of note that the people have begun to know the implications of the swift action taken by the government to prevent the spread of the virus.
“So, for those who may want to test the will of government, I urge them to stay at home because we will leave no stone unturned to ensure total compliance regardless of individuals’ status and place in the society”, she said.
