A road accident occurred at Ikoyi on Sunday, 27 September, 2020, reports The Gazelle News.com.
One person died while three other sustained injuries.
The accident involved an unregistered Ford Ranger Jeep and a white Nissan Jeep with registration number KRD499GE. The two vehicles had a head on collision at Golden Gate junction on Kingsway Road, Ikoyi.
The Lagos State Emergency Management Authority (LASEMA) response team from Lekki-Ikoyi zone carried out emergency safety activities in record time.
At the end, a man lost his life, three others sustained different degree of injuries.
According to reports, “LASEMA Response Team deployed from the Lekki Zone created an all-time new record with a Ten Minutes Response Time.
“The new Response Time record came on heels of the rescue of three injured adult males, recovery of one adult male body and two accident vehicles, by Golden Gate in Ikoyi axis of Lagos, after a Head-on collision.
“Though the Agency had always harped on reduced Response Time because every moment counts during emergencies, *achieving a Ten Minutes Response Time*, surpassed even the team’s 15 minutes Expected Time of Arrival as logged when taking-off in the wee hours of today, from it’s Lekki Base.
“LASEMA Response Team achieved the feat of this new record, when in swift response to the distress calls received by the Agency through it’s 767/112 Toll Free Lines at 01:44hours, got to the incident scene ahead of it’s Estimated Time of Arrival at 01:54hours (Ten minutes flat).
“The new Response Time was recorded as a result of the fatal accident at the traffic stop intersection by Golden Gate in Ikoyi, where and adult male lost his life when the two vehicles involved in the accident collided head-on, while both were on top speed.
“Situation report on the road traffic accident at Golden-Gate, Ikoyi has it that, “On arrival at the scene, it was discovered that a white, unregistered Ford Ranger Jeep and a white Nissan Jeep with registration number KRD 499 GE, had a head-on collision at the traffic stop junction of the road.
“Further investigation carried out revealed that, both vehicles whilst on top speed, ran into each other at the intersection of the road.
“An adult male lost his life and 3 adult males had various degrees of injuries, while 2 has been attended to by the Agency’s parmedics and thereafter taken to the hospital in their Ambulance.
“Both affected vehicles has been recovered and taken to the Nigerian Police Station, Ikoyi.
“The LASEMA Response Team, alongside Officers of Nigeria Police Force were the responders present at the Incident scene.
“Recovery operation concluded. LRT and heading back to base”.
