President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Deputy Inspector-General of Police Usman Baba as the acting Inspector-General of Police.
The Minister of Police Affairs, Maigari Dingyadi announced this on Tuesday, 6 April, 2021.
Baba takes over from Mohammed Adamu whose tenure was extended for three months on February 4, but was short-lived.
The appointment takes immediate effect, according to the Minister.
Baba will be expected to deal with calls for the creation of state police, increasing security challenges among others.
Growing Insecurity in the country may have led to the decision to replace Adamu whose tenure was only extended on 4 February, 2021.
