Less than two months after the spokesman of Access Bank Plc, Abdul Imoyo died, the Group Chief Executive Officer of Access Holdings Plc, Herbert Wigwe has died in a helcopter crash in the United States of America.
The incident took place on the night of Friday, 9 February, 2024. This is coming less than two months after the death of Imoyo on Sunday, 17 December, 2023, at First Cardiology, Ikoyi, Lagos, after a brief illness.
Sources said the aircraft in which Wigwe was travelling, was headed to Las Vegas when it crashed near a border city between Nevada and California on Friday night, 9 February, 2024.
It was reported that his wife, son and the Chairman of Nigerian Exchange Group, Abimbola Ogunbanjo were all on board the aircraft.
The helicopter, a Eurocopter EC 130, was carrying six people onboard at the time of the incident.
San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said they were made aware of the downed aircraft shortly after 10 pm on Friday, 9 February, 2024.
In a statement, they said, “We are not able to confirm how many people were on board or their names. No survivors have been located.”
