The Senator representing Bauchi North Senatorial District in the Upper Legislative Chamber, Senator Abdul Ningi, On Tuesday, 4 June, 2024 returned to plenary sessions following a three-month suspension.

Recall that the Senate had pardoned and recalled him, ending his suspension that began on 12 March, 2024.

Last week, Deputy Minority Leader Senator Abba Moro moved a motion for Ningi’s recall, expressing regret on his behalf and taking responsibility for his actions.

The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, subsequently announced Ningi’s unconditional recall after pleas from some lawmakers.

Ningi’s suspension stemmed from a controversial interview where he alleged discrepancies in the 2024 budget, claiming the National Assembly approved N25 trillion while the Presidency implemented N28.7 trillion.
