A man identified as Mr Tator Ayihe from Ayihe Village in Makurdi Local Government Area of Benue State has committed suicide over a messy land deal.
Ayihe took his own life by ingesting Sniper, a dangerous pesticide, on Wednesday, 15 January, 2025 after selling a plot of land to three different persons.
A source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told DAILY POST those he sold the land to had assembled for an inquiry at the residence of the traditional ruler of the village for adjudication.
“He left the gathering with an excuse to get something from the house; he instead went to three different shops in search of Sniper.
“He succeeded, went home, switched off his phone, and drank the whole bottle of Sniper.
“The chief sent people to his house, where it was discovered he had drunk Sniper. He died on arrival at the hospital,” the source said.
As at the time of filing this report, the Benue State Police Command has yet to comment on the incident.
