Reprieve came the way of former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, on Tuesday, 4 January, 2025 as Ikeja Special Offences Court presided over by Justice Olubunmi Abike-Fadipe, discharged and acquitted him of medical forgery charges levelled against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The court’s decision was based on the prosecution’s failure to establish a prima facie case against Fani-Kayode.
Justice Abike-Fadipe noted that the prosecution did not provide sufficient evidence to link the defendant to the alleged offences.
The EFCC had accused Fani-Kayode of using forged medical reports to deceive the Federal High Court in Lagos, where he was facing trial for an alleged N4.9 billion fraud.
