The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt Honourable Mojisola Lasbat Meranda, has dismissed a report of her resignation from office, reports thegazellenews.com

Meranda emerged as the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly following the removal of Mudashiru Obasa.

But Obasa is insisting that his removal did not follow due process.

On Monday, 17 February, 2025, operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS), and the police invaded the Assembly complex following reports that Obasa plans to resume as Speaker.

On Tuesday, 18 February, 2025, a resignation letter purportedly signed by Meranda, and dated February 17, 2025, emerged online.

However, the Speaker’s Chief Press Secretary, Segun Ajiboye, has debunked reports that Meranda has resigned.

Speaking with newsmen, Ajiboye said: “It is a lie from the pit of hell. There is no truth in the story. I am doing my work as the CPS, the Speaker is her office as we speak and everybody is going about his or her business.

“We do not know where the story is coming from. The Speaker has not resigned and there is no plan for that.”
