It was a day of merriment, joy and feeling of conviviality as members of the Lagos State Council Chairmen Wives Association (LASCCWA) converged at the Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye LCDA main hall for a meeting and empowerment programme co-hosted by the Chairpersons of Mushin Local Government and Odiolowo LCDA, Mrs. Bamigboye and Mrs. Muhibat Omokehinde Ajala respectively.
Mrs Ajala, who is the Chairperson of the group, disclosed that the group has been in the forefront of complementing the efforts of their husbands in developing their respective councils.

“What we are doing today is a confirmation of what we stand for – support system for our husbands. We not only provide the support and care for them, we also contribute through advice and empowerment programmes like the one we are doing here today,” she said.
According to her, the group will not relent in giving support for their husbands as they strive to ensure that the people of their respective councils get dividends of democracy delivered to them even at their doorsteps.

Hon. Rasaq Olusola Ajala, Chairman of Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye LCDA, who attended as a special guest, commended LASCCWA members for supporting their husbands in fulfilling their electoral promises.
“I want to, on behalf of my colleagues in Conference 57, thank you all for being there for us. The support, care and advice you are giving us cannot be over emphasised. We appreciate you and we are very grateful to you especially for keeping the homefront going most of the time we are not physically present,” Ajala, Secretary of Conference 57, umbrella organisation for council chairmen in Lagos State, said.

He emphasized on perseverance and useful ideas as perquisite for achieving the Association’s objective of supporting their husbands in delivering on their promises.
Highlight of the event was empowerment programme initiated by Mrs Bamgboye and Mrs Ajala.
Mrs Bamgboye not only distributed cash award of N100,000 to some women in her council area, she also distributed sewing machines to some female fashion designers.
Mrs Ajala, on her part, presented full Home Economics equipment to three public schools in Odiolowo/Ojuwoye LCDA as well as presentation of N100,000 cash award to women in the area.

The empowerment items were presented by Honourable Ajala. He lauded the Chairpersons for their efforts and encouraged continued support for LASCCWA programmes.
The event was attended by Vice Chairman Hon. Seyi Jakande; Leader of the Legislative Arm, Hon. Rilwan Ola Ajenifuja; Secretary, Hon. Mujeeb Ayinde Daramola; and the Council Manager, Pastor (Mrs) Folake Otenaike among others.
